• Economic and Financial - In addition to hurting you emotionally and physically, an abusive partner may also hurt you in the pocketbook. Economic or financial abuse includes: controlling finances, withholding money and credit cards, giving you an allowance, preventing you from working or making you account for every penny.
• Emotional and Verbal - Name calling, sexual put-downs, implying craziness.
• Intimidation and Threats - Creating fear by using looks, actions, loud voices, gestures, body positioning, smashing or destroying property.
• Male Privilege - Treating individual like a servant, controlling as property, making all decisions, acting superior.
• Physical - There’s a broad range of behaviors that come under the heading of physical abuse, including hitting, grabbing, choking, throwing things, and assault with a weapon.
